Holly Hearn Whaley, Executive Director

Holly Hearn Whaley takes a party very seriously. If there were a gene for communicating a message with a well-crafted celebration, Holly would have it. Her more than 35 years of planning parties, meetings, conferences, classes, retreats, service projects, weddings, galas, camps and even church services seems to add to the mix in whatever setting she’s in. Today, it’s l’Eté du Vin – the Nashville Wine Auction.
Holly couldn’t resist taking on America’s oldest charity wine auction as Executive Director in March of 2011. After 20 years as Director of Corporate Communications at EMI Christian Music Group and Executive Director of The Sparrow Foundation, Whaley is using that “Party Gene” for the worthy cause of uniting the wine community in the fight against cancer. The wine is not the only thing that’s driving her to make l’Eté du Vin the best wine experience in Nashville, it is the loss of her 54 year old mother to breast cancer in the mid 1980s.
So now the message is, life is too short to…drink bad wine…or waste one minute not sharing that good bottle with the people you love. And, there’s lots of opportunity for that in Nashville leading committees of wine enthusiasts in planning events that will raise cash to crush out cancer.
Holly has served on numerous non-profit and community boards and councils for Barefoot Republic Camps, Inc., the Nashville Symphony Orchestra, the Gospel Music Association’s Hall of Fame, the Nashville Chamber Orchestra, and l’Eté du Vin. She has held many leadership positions as a member of NARAS, the Brentwood Cool Springs Chamber of Commerce, Leadership Brentwood, Fellowship Bible Church, as well as participated in community events such as the Nashville Public Library’s Literary Award Gala, the American Heart Association’s Heart Gala, the Iroquois Steeplechase Hunt Ball, and the T.J. Martell Foundation’s Best Cellars Dinner.
Holly has been awarded the Ann York Huff Volunteer of the Year by the Brentwood Cool Springs Chamber of Commerce as was honored with Barefoot Republic Camp’s Butler Award in 2007 and the Nashville Chamber Orchestra Volunteer of the Month in November 2007, and named EMI Music’s North America Volunteer of the Year in 1997.
Holly resides in Nashville with her husband Dr. Mark B. Whaley, an AACD accredited cosmetic dentist. She has one son, Trevor Redding, a Lieutenant and pilot in the US Air Force.
