Nashville Wine Auction Hosts Grand Cru Evening

June 28, Nashville, TN- On Tuesday, June 19, the Nashville Wine Auction hosted a cocktail event at the home of Clay and Cathy Jackson to honor members of our Ladies’ and Gentlemen’s Grand Cru Committees, as well as preview the fabulous l’Eté du Vin 2012 auction items.  The Jacksons welcomed over 140 guests into their home, which is situated on over 100 acres at the corner of Hillsboro and Tyne.  The land has been in Cathy’s family for 100 years and throughout history has been the site of gracious and elegant entertaining.  Ann Eaden, Nancy Hearn and Cathy Jackson served as chairs for the event and helped make this evening truly remarkable.

One of the many highlights of the evening was the ambrosial menu created by Cathy Jackson and John Howard and catered by Sargent’s Fine Catering.   Some of the hors d’ oeuvres served included seared sea scallops on yucca chips, duck sliders with dilled crème fraiche, roasted carrot pudding bites, and beef tenderloin crostini .  These fine tastings were paired with 2010 Cakebread Sauvignon Blanc, 2009 Robert-Denogent Pouilly-Fuisse “Solutre”, 2009 Louis Latour Marsannay, Au Bon Climat Pinot Noir – l’Eté du Vin Private Label “Icons” in Magnum, and 2004 and 2005 Black by Black in Double Magnum.  Guests also enjoyed a Billecart Salmon Rose Champagne, claimed to be a “bone-dry, delicious wine” by Wine Enthusiast (92 pts). Floral designs reflected notes of Nashville in Cowboy Boots and Hats while Craig Duncan filled the atmosphere with banjo, violin, and mandolin.

While l’Eté du Vin Gone Country will auction off hundreds of exquisite items at this year’s auction in July, guests at Grand Cru took a sneak peek at a few of the most unique and refined lots that will be available for purchase.  A dinner for 8 at Martina McBride’s home, a Cakebread Experience, and a 1982 Bordeaux Tasting were only a few of the items previewed.  Guests also had the chance to view a 2012 Lexus IS 250, donated by Lexus Nashville and the first ever Toyota Prius plug-in in our region, donated by Beaman Automotive. Displayed on the Jackson’s front lawn during Grand Cru, the sleek Lexus will be up for a 2 year lease and the Prius will be available for purchase at the auction.

Grand Cru 2012 was a huge hit, bringing the members of our wine community together to continue the fight against cancer.  Grand Cru Committee members, Chairmen, and Board Members joined together with representatives from Nashville Wine Auction’s beneficiaries and special guests such as Amy Marsalis and Kix Brooks for a night of fine foods, wine and company.  Grand Cru helped supporters and friends get in the spirit of l’Eté du Vin Gone Country coming up on Saturday, July 21 at Loews Vanderbilt Hotel.
